Shore Acres Preserve– Loop hike to the shore and back. Part of Island Heritage Trust

Distance: 1.5 miles in a loop. No other trails available

Location: Deer Isle, Maine. On Greenlaw District Rd just off Sunshine Rd .

Parking: Parking area good for 6-8 cars and has a semi-circle entrance-exit.

Use: Good for hiking, running, snowshoeing although trail running here is difficult do to the large number of roots.

Wildlife: Mostly expect to see waterfowl, gulls, sandpipers etc. although deer are a distinct possibility.

Wilderness Experience: Greenlaw District Rd is not a really busy road, but it is a sparsely populated residential area so cars to travel through there.

Trail: Many roots. The trail has almost no elevation change, just gently rolling small hills here and there. Pine needles and moss cover the ground along with the roots, but there are almost no rocky areas.

Summit: No summit. The views are solely of the shore and a beautiful forest.
